Signing sessions
Bookworms is keen to help promote the work of local authors, and
regularly holds sessions where they can talk about their work and sign copies
of their books.
This page shows pictures of some of these authors
visits.

Local author Sam Wilding visited Bookworms on 20 June
2009 as part of Independent Booksellers Week to talk about his fantasy
adventures in the Denthan series: The Second Gateway and The Magic
Scales. |

Sam first visited on 11 October 2008 to talk about his first
book The Magic Scales. Featuring a wizard in the body of a goldfish and
other magical creatures, it follows the quest of a boy with asthma. |

Also for IBW, on Friday 19 June 2009, Dr Tom Smith
was on hand amusing customers with his reminiscences and stories based
on his life as a Scottish country doctor and later at international conferences
and as a locum as recounted in his books A Seaside Practice and
Going Loco. |

Poets Robert Marsland and Graham Hardie also
appeared during Independent Booksellers Week, on 17 June 2009, reading a
selection of poetry and literature from Ettrick Forest Press and
Peninus Publishing. Graham is keen to promote young Scottish poets and
also runs online literary journals. |

Jay Muirhead read from her novel To Hell and
Back and signed copies at a session on Saturday 22 March 2008. Drawing on
the authors own experience, this gripping story deals with the journey of
a woman trying to escape from her abusive husband. |

One of the original founders of Bookworms, Terry
Lane, visited from Italy to sign his two books: a biography of Stephen
Joseph, The Full Round, and Side by Side, which deals with the
Traverse Theatre. |

Local author Pat
McIntosh signing her mediaeval murder mysteries set in Glasgow, The
Nicholas Feast and The Harper's Quine, on Saturday 5 November
2005.

Pat appeared in costume typical of the period as for
her books, she researched the details to ensure authenticity (and yes, she
sewed all the pearls onto the headdress by hand!). |

Jean Johnston signing To Walk on Eggshells on
Saturday 16 April 2005, with her daughter Suzy, author of The Naked
Birdwatcher.
Drawing on their personal experience, they have become
respected campaigners on mental health issues.
