Bookworms has closed down.

After more than 30 years in Helensburgh, Bookworms has now closed permanently

Bookworms was originally started as an independent bookshop in the 1970s. It remained in the same family ownership until 2003, when Craig and Sarah Scott took over. After Craig's death in 2006, Sarah continued to run the business with the invaluable help of part-time assistants. However, despite the support of its many loyal customers, turnover has been steadily declining due to the recession alongside the increased purchasing of books through online stores and the rise in ownership of e-book readers.

We wish to thank all customers, not only for buying books, but for the interesting conversations and genuine sense of community spirit that we have enjoyed over the years.
